There are three components to our English Language Arts curriculum; reading, writing and word study. Within our E.L.A curriculum, we will have book clubs, and writing conferences. Children will be engaged in many activities that fosters an interest in reading and writing.
These are the following activities that your child will be engaged in on a daily basis within the classroom setting:
Our Book Club sessions will focus on teaching reading skills and concepts to strengthen your child’s reading level (CAFÉ - comprehension, accuracy, fluency, expanding vocabulary). Students will focus on the Daily 5 classroom routines to complete their work. These routines will include: independent reading and journaling, reading to someone else, listening to someone read, word work and working on writing. Students written work will correlate to books and skills learned in CAFÉ and Daily.

- Read Aloud Mini-Lessons
- Independent/Buddy Reading
- Weekly Word Study (groups)
